Bar Harbor Bank & Trust is looking for a Compliance Analyst I or II, depending on experience.
The locations for this position are open.
They can be; Hampden ME, Bar Harbor, ME, Ellsworth ME, Brunswick ME, Newport NH, or Randolph VT.
This role is under the direction of the SVP, Chief Compliance Officer and it assists in ensuring that Bar Harbor Bankshares meets legal and regulatory requirements by review, support and administration of the Compliance Management System (CMS) and related Compliance Program.
Responsibilities (Essential):

Maintains up-to-date knowledge of regulations and regulatory changes.
Assists business units on recommended procedure modifications to adapt to the changes in order to comply with revised or new requirements.

Communicates status of compliance with various laws and regulations related to specific areas when doing compliance reviews.

Assist department manager in recommending business unit procedures, controls, self-monitoring, tools, and training that will be effective at preventing regulatory compliance errors.

Monitors adherence and effectiveness of established business unit procedures and controls.

Performs annual compliance monitoring, testing and assessments in accordance with monitoring review schedules, based on the Compliance risk profile and in a manner which optimizes efficiency and effectiveness of resources.

Conducts independent compliance monitoring reviews of records and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Conducts regular internal transaction and documentation testing, including account records, to identify compliance concerns.
Identifies where corrective action is needed and works to develop targeted compliance training for business units.

Develops comprehensive management reports including recommendations for corrective action where program gaps are identified.

Monitors the status of corrective actions to internal compliance monitoring/review findings, and follows up with appropriate Bank personnel as necessary to assure corrective actions have occurred.

Serves as front-line resource on Bank compliance inquiries and routine matters, referring complex or higher level issues to the Chief Compliance Officer or the Compliance Manager as appropriate.

Collaborates with Marketing, Trust, Financial Services, and other departments to review applicable ads, disclosures, customer correspondence or customer complaints.

May participate in a wide variety of projects as directed by the Chief Compliance Officer or Compliance Manger.

Enthusiastically support the Banks Guiding Principles and Brand Behaviors.

Adhere to regulatory requirements.

Comprehend and adhere to federal and state banking regulations in accordance with Bar Harbor Bank & Trusts policies and procedures.
Required Education &
Experience:

Minimum of an associates or bachelors degree or commensurate experience.

Minimum of 3 years for Compliance Analyst I, or 5 years for Compliance Analyst II, of relevant work experience, preferably in the banking or financial industry with compliance, audit experience or legal background.

Ability to utilize sound judgement to make business decisions.

Comprehensive understanding of consumer compliance regulations and bank products.

Ability to read, and effectively analyze and interpret government regulations.

Strong research and critical reasoning skills, with good judgment and common sense.

Ability to establish priorities and work independently.

Ability to analyze procedures and determine the impact on compliance.

Strong organizational skills.

Ability to proactively work with other departments to address outstanding issues.

Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with department managers and supervisors.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Good understanding of Word and Excel PC applications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
