Purchasing Specialist
Hampden, ME Hampden, ME Full-time Full-time $23 an hour $23 an hour The Purchasing Specialist assists Category Managers and the Director of Merchandising in various activities associated with purchasing and procurement functions.
Conducts research on potential suppliers and vendors, promotions, and other industry trends as a source of accurate and up-to-date information for purchasing activities.
Enters data into Target and other systems to maintain up-to-date supplier and vendor information to track purchases, the status of orders, and deliveries and to generate purchasing reports and statistics.
Monitors the quality and timeliness of materials and goods supplied; follows up on the status of purchase orders with vendors to ensure timely delivery; and communicates the status of orders with Category Managers and other internal customers.
Duties and Key
Responsibilities:
Assist with purchasing and replenishment functions utilizing company buying procedures.
Identify and work with the purchasing and inventory control teams to resolve supply chain issues, purchase order cancelations, delivery date revisions, and invoice discrepancies.
Confirm with vendors orders have been received and track orders to ensure on-time delivery.
Monitors and timely acts upon open purchase orders for both purchases and credits.
Work with vendors and internal teams to set up new items.
Prepare weekly reports for management and category managers.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Ability to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, and co-workers positively and proactively.
Outstanding organizational and planning abilities; able to recognize and set priorities.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Works with a strong sense of urgency to get the job done.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education &
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or relevant field preferred.
Six months of purchasing or related area within the food service industry.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
